Optimal Measurement of Drone Swarm in RSS-Based Passive Localization With Region Constraints

Passive geolocation by multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) covers a wide range of military and civilian applications including rescue, wild life tracking electronic warfare. The sensor-target geometry is known to significantly affect the localization precision. existing optimal sensor placement strategies mainly work on cases without any constraints locations. However, UAVs cannot fly/hover simply in arbitrary region due realistic constraints, such as geographical limitations, security issues, max flying speed. In this paper, geometrical configurations received signal strength (RSS)-based under are investigated. Employing D-optimal criteria, i.e., maximizing determinant Fisher information matrix (FIM), problem formulated. Based rigorous algebra derivations, also closed-form different states proposed. Finally, effectiveness practicality proposed demonstrated simulation examples.
